When you get good news on the magnitude of "your body scans look good" and "your treatments are working," the first thing you need to do is find a way to celebrate. Upon leaving my rock-star oncologist's office with just such news yesterday, we hiked to the top of Alta Plaza Park to take in some of the best views in San Francisco. With the city on one side and the Bay on the other, it's hard to imagine a better place to take a deep breath and enjoy the reality of capital-G, capital-N Good News.Popping the bubbly later in the evening was a must-do, of course. As an almost-teetotaller, I couldn't partake in the Real Thing, but fortunately we found some sparkling cider at the back of the fridge -- just perfect for the occasion.
What a relief to have made it through the day I've been dreading the most for more than three months! There's still a long road ahead, but it's all worth it. Many, many thanks to everyone who's been there for us along the way.
