Do you see these beautiful scones? Don't they look like someone spent ALL AFTERNOON lovingly kneading the dough, rolling and slicing it into 12 perfect little triangles, and checking it obsessively every two minutes so they didn't over-bake (which is a tendency for some people, I won't say whom)? You would be correct. That's exactly what happened in the creation of these scones.
What did NOT happen, however, is the addition of sugar, which you may realize is a key ingredient in baked goods, including orange-currant scones. And you also may realize that scones without sugar are nasty.

Hee! But they are so lovely ... perhaps you could shellac them and put them out (not unlike a bowl of plastic fruit) when guests visit?
So, let me get this straight. Those are inedible baked goods? This idea makes me so...sad. I do, however, think the idea of making them into a centerpiece is a good one.
hi kris,
how nice to know you're out in the blogosphere like me. i love the idea of the re-purposed scone...palm sized weapons...door stops...take them to the park for fetch with the pup. i think you've got a cottage industry here: kitchen blunders turned wonders. xo
Hi, Kris,
The Cook's Illustrated "The New Best Recipe" has an excellent scone recipe (and 999 others). This recipe is very easy (I'm not a patient cook) and the scones really are perfect (buttery, not-too-sweet). MMMmmmm.... scones.
